A month after the death of Mayari (Sofia Andres), a new deserving hero has been granted supernatural powers in "Bagani," once again completing the five-member circle on a mission to save Sansinukob from a vengeful deity.
In the May 4 episode of the top-rating fantaserye, Lakas (Enrique Gil) continued training Liksi (Zaijan Jaranilla), but this time determined to push the young Taga-Kalakal to his limits.
Weakened from Lakas' aggressive advances, Liksi finally found and held firm his motivation to combat their common nemesis, Sarimaw (Ryan Eigenmann); that is, to save his family, and others like them, who had become refugees in the wake of the tyrant's rule.
While in previous episodes, Liksi has already been granted Kataw's (Ahron Villena) shield, the aspiring bagani couldn't yet become one with the mythical merman's power, as Mayari managed before him.
But now, with unyielding purpose, Liksi finally manifested the powers of Kataw. Levitating, he was enveloped by the same purple light that transformed Mayari, and revealed himself wearing the armor of a bagani. His shield also appeared to get an upgrade.
With abilities derived from Kataw's origins, Liksi, like Mayari, had on enormous seashells and similar marine structures as pauldrons, gauntlets, and greaves.
Liksi's transformation as the fifth bagani -- and Mayari's replacement -- has long been hinted at since she died in a lightning storm unleashed by Sarimaw. Liksi accompanied the remaining baganis, Lakas and Dumakulem (Makisig Morales), as they rallied inhabitants of Sansinukob to form a rebellion.
Viewers of the hit primetime serye -- it drew a national TV rating of 33.7% on Monday -- now look forward to the reunion of the five baganis, who haven't shared screen time for over a month's worth of episodes now.
Lakam (Matteo Guidicelli) remains trapped as regretful ally of Sarimaw, while Ganda (Liza Soberano), with the help of Malaya (Kristine Hermosa), is still finding her way out of Dako Pa Roon to re-join her group.
