MANILA - When it comes to being a celebrity, one of the biggest downsides is having to deal with the constant bashing from online trolls. That pain of reading harsh insults thrown at them is an all too-real feeling for these stars.

Which was why Jessy Mendiola's birthday message for her boyfriend Luis Manzano felt more heartfelt than it should have been.

In an episode of "Minute To Win It," which Manzano hosts, Mendiola turned emotional as she thanked her new beau, whom she started dating amid all the body-shaming and hateful comments she received last year.

"Nagpapasalamat ako na dumating ka sa buhay ko. Sana marami ka pang blessings na matanggap kasi napakabuti mong tao, napakabuti ng puso mo at deserve mo lahat ng nakukuha mo," she told Manzano.

The couple started going public about their relationship late last year. Prior, they shied away from the spotlight, especially since Mendiola was tagged as the reason behind Manzano's breakup with Angel Locsin.

Their romance also began after Mendiola was voted the "sexiest woman" in the country, sparking a barrage of body-shaming insults hurled by her critics.
