MANILA - It was back in August last year when 4th Impact nailed their pitch-perfect cover of Jessie J's "Bang Bang" in front of Simon Cowell.

It was back in August when the group nearly faced disqualification from "The X Factor UK" for having a professional background.

It was back in August when the group nearly quit singing altogether.

Flash forward to Friday evening, 4th Impact, composed of Filipino sisters Irene, Mylene, Almira and Celina, were gearing up for a music festival in Manila that will feature the likes of rap icons Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa.

In an interview on "Tonight with Boy Abunda," 4th Impact admitted that it was their mother who encouraged them to keep their dream of the limelight alive despite the controversies.

"Siya po iyong laging nagsasabi na ibinigay ang talent na iyan sa inyo ni Lord dahil mayroon kayong purpose," one of the sisters said.

4th Impact finished fifth on "The X Factor UK." The group, however, have amassed a sizable following that led to them embarking on a month-long tour in the United Kingdom last February.

The quartet, breadwinners for their family, said that they never thought that they would have the chance to perform in front of thousands of fans.

"Napaka-blessed kami dahil darating din po pala iyong time na hindi ka na bibili, hindi ka na hihingi kay mama ng allowance, kung hindi libre na, may mga nagbibigay at nagreregalo," one of the sisters said.

STARTING OVER AGAIN

Before joining "The X Factor UK," 4th Impact previously performed in other singing competitions. They won a contest on ABS-CBN’s noontime show "It’s Showtime" back in 2012 as The Gollayan Sisters.

Two years later, they joined the South Korean talent show "Superstar K6" under the name MICA. The group is used to wiping their slate clean, reinventing themselves, and starting fresh.

But now that they have made a name for themselves as the girls "who could give Little Mix a run for their money," 4th Impact wants to keep their identity and do the thing that have always been their passion.

"Gusto namin ipagpatuloy ang pagkanta dahil hindi pala ito imposible," the group said.
