MANILA - It’s Showtime host Anne Curtis on Saturday broke her silence about a supposed rivalry between her and her co-host Vice Ganda over building their respective beauty product empires.

Curtis’ blk Cosmetics and Vice Ganda’s Vice Cosmetics both entered the local cosmetic scene in September 2017 by selling lipsticks through online shops and department stores, leading some fans and make-up junkies to pit the brands against each other.

The Buy Bust actress said the similar timing of their foray into the cosmetics industry also caught them by surprise.

“Actually nagkagulatan na lang kami na parang, ‘Meron ka ding cosmetic line? Oo. Kailan ka magla-launch? Ako itong ano na. Ako din!’” Curtis told reporters during the opening of blk Cosmetics’ first boutique in a mall in Quezon City.

Curtis, blk Cosmetics’ creative director, said having a similar business never became an issue between her and the Gandang Gabi Vice host.

“Sabi ko okay lang ‘yan. The local industry is actually booming,” Curtis said.

“If you look into the make-up kit of one girl, it doesn’t have only one brand. It has all different brands. It goes to show that there is room for everyone,” she added.

Vice Ganda had also been generous in promoting blk Cosmetics in their noontime show, Curtis said.

“Minsan bawal kami mag-promote sa Showtime pero ang galing ni Vice. Madalas nase-segue niya so sinasabi niya [bumili] pati blk [Cosmetics],” she said.
