Vice Ganda says he's against the bill that aims to re-introduce the death penalty in the country. Gandang Gabi Vice

Vice Ganda, whose father was fatally shot in front of him when he was still a teenager, is against the move to re-introduce capital punishment in the Philippines.

Citing himself as an example, the comedian said that sentencing his father's gunman, who has yet to be caught, on death row would be inhumane.

Instead of trying to bring back the death penalty, he suggested the government first fix the country's justice system.

Vice Ganda explained that no child should ever experience the pain he went through when he lost his father.

Restoring the death penalty has been a top priority of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, whom Vice Ganda openly supported during the campaign period.

With 217 votes in favor, the death penalty bill has already passed Congress. It requires Senate approval before being passed into law.
