MANILA -- Jodi Sta. Maria and her son Thirdy had a unqiue mother-and-son bonding experience during their visit to Japan.

On Instagram, the actress posted a video clip of her and son "learning the Japanese art of sword fighting."

During the activity, the boy pretended to be a ninja out to save Sta. Maria, who was acting out the part of a "distressed female who was attacked by a samurai."

"The art teaches us a moral principle -- to discipline our souls and spirit. We learned some basic skills today. We got to perform what we've learned too!" Sta. Maria wrote in the caption. "Enjoy watching."
