MANILA -- For Jake Cuenca, his ex-girlfriend, model Sara Grace Kelly, is "the one" for him.

"She's the only girl in my heart right now," Cuenca said on Thursday at the launch of his new endorsement, Guitar Underwear. "Kung hindi man kami magkabalikan, she will always be here (in my heart) because for me that's the best relationship I've ever had."

According to the actor, it was Kelly who broke up with him after being together for a year.

"It was over the phone kasi malayo kami sa isa't isa. She had good reasons too kasi nga ang hirap. I have to understand na she's only 20. Para ipilit ang mga responsibilidad na ganoon sa kanya, I don't think that's fair," said Cuenca, who admitted that the long distance played a big part in their separation.

"Hindi naman siya bad breakup na nag-away. We don't hate each other. Parang nangyari lang talaga," he added.

Cuenca stressed that he did fight for their relationship but with the young model but admitted that he needs to respect her decision.

"I think at this point I'm still fighting but I'm not just being that makulit na ex-boyfriend. Sa lahat ng opera o pelikula, may ganyan, 'yung makulit na boyfriend, and I just don't want to be that," Cuenca said.

"Sinasabi ko naman na I take it one day at a time. I wish I would have more of a fighting chance. Ang hirap kasi malayo kami sa isa't isa," he said

The actor will be leaving for New York soon and he is hoping that he could still talk to Kelly and win her back.

"All I can do is hope. I' m still hoping na one day we will cross paths and continue our relationship again but, as I said, I have to respect that space, " Cuenca said.

Meanwhile, Cuenca announced that when he returns from his trip to New York, he will be doing a new series, as well as a movie with his "Pasion de Amor" co-actors Ejay Falcon and Joseph Marco.
