MANILA - Cristine Reyes, the star of the afternoon drama "Tubig at Langis," has defended herself from the accusations of Vivian Velez, calling the veteran actress a "liar."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Ginger Conejero, the 27-year-old Reyes denied that she had asked for Velez to be thrown out their shared dressing room while filming an episode of the soap.

"Lilinawin ko lang po na wala akong pinapaalis na kahit sino sa dressing room -- kahit sinong kasama ko hindi ko ho iyon gagawin," she said.

Reyes added: "And gusto ko rin linawin iyong resignation niya sa show because of me was a big lie because she found already na papatayin iyong character niya sa soap namin."

In a rant on social media, Velez claimed that Reyes "humiliated" her and that the incident has forced her to tender her "immediate irrevocable resignation" from the ABS-CBN show.

But Reyes alleged, citing proof, that Velez was already being written out of "Tubig at Langis" because of several complaints from the production staff regarding her behavior.

"It saddens me that I'm being used in this particular situation of hers. Sana if ever na mag-settle na lahat ng emotions niya ay maisip niya at ma-realize niya na we all know the truth," Reyes said.

Asked if she had previous altercations with Velez on the set, Reyes replied: "Hindi ko naiintindihan kung saan nanggagaling ang galit sa akin ni Ms. Vivian. I really don't understand."

In an interview with Pep, Velez said she has been receiving poor treatment from Reyes for about a month now, adding that Reyes has been constantly banging at her door and shouting at her.

The production team of the series has already denied Velez's allegations, but the actress dismissed the released statement as "whitewashing."

"Para sa akin, hindi naman ako para pagtakpan kung mayroon akong kasalan talaga," said Reyes. "I'm pretty sure kung mayroon akong kasalanan, hindi ako para pagtakpan ng management."

"Magiging transparent sila kung sino ang nasa tama. And they just clarified it because she's accusing me of sending her out of the room. And they just backed me up because it's just not true," she added.

Prodded for her message for Velez, Reyes said she hopes the Velez will admit to her lies, but apologized if she offended the actress when she sang Avril Lavigne's "Goodbye" as a joke.

"I apologize for that and that's it," she said. "Honestly, we were all joking about her on-set. And we're sorry for that but you know dala lang iyon ng pressure sa work to make everything light."

"Kasi masyado nang mainit sa set, masyado nang maraming issues so we just wanted it to be fun on the set but then si Ms. Vivian is very hot-headed sometimes."

Reyes also explained that she is not willing to forgive Velez for her "lies," saying the "damage has been done."
