MANILA - John Castillo Soberano wants his daughter, actress Liza Soberano, to join the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant.

In a taped message aired on Monday's episode of "Magandang Buhay," Mr. Soberano said he hopes that his daughter will consider competing in the country's most prestigious beauty competition.

"Sana makatungtong ka sa Binibining Pilipinas one of these days. That's my wish," he said.

Asked for her reaction, Liza thanked her father and admitted that it is her family's dream for her to become a beauty queen.

"Gusto po talaga nila. Gusto po nilang maging [kilala bilang beauty queen] 'yung last name na Soberano, feeling ko," she said.

The actress said she is not closing her doors on the possibility. "Hindi ko po alam... Kung para sa akin talaga, eh di [sige]," she said.

It was in October last year when Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach said that Liza possesses a beauty worthy of becoming the next Miss Universe.

Last month, Liza said that she is happy that people are telling her to join beauty pageants but admitted that she is not into such competitions.

The actress is currently promoting her newest movie with rumored boyfriend Enrique Gil, "My Ex and Whys."

The movie under Star Cinema will hit theaters nationwide on February 15.
