MANILA - Five years since their controversial separation over allegations of infidelity, Sunshine Cruz is admittedly growing impatient to finally close the chapter of her life involving Cesar Montano.

That would entail finalizing the annulment of their marriage, which remains elusive for the 40-year-old actress four years after she initially petitioned it.

"Hindi ko rin maintindihan. Napakamot na lang ako! Ang dami ko nang puting buhok, wala pa rin!" Cruz told reporters after a press conference Wednesday for the nearing finale of "Wildflower," where she is a cast member.

She added: "May kanya-kanya na kaming buhay, alam naman natin iyon. Para sa 101% freedom namin, ito na lang talaga 'yung kailangan para makapag-move on completely."

Cruz is now romantically involved with businessman Macky Mathay. They celebrated their second anniversary as a couple in September last year.

Asked about her current relationship, Cruz declined to give details, only saying, "It's safe to say, kung sino man ang mga parte ng buhay ko ngayon, masayang-masaya ako, dahil hindi lang ako ang minamahal at tinatanggap, tanggap din pati 'yung past, present ko, at mahal na mahal pati ang mga anak ko."

Cruz has three children with Montano, to whom she was married for 13 years until their 2013 separation. Aside from seeking the annulment of their marriage, Cruz also sued the action star for marital rape.

The actress had a ready answer when asked if she still communicates with Montano: "Korte... Sa korte lang talaga kami nagkikita."

She added, however, that their daughters remain in touch with Montano, citing, for instance, the children's need for transporation after one of their cars broke down.

Since she became a single mother, Cruz said her relationship with her daughters have become more open, to the point of cautioning them about entertaining suitors.

"After what I've experienced, I think mas okay talaga siguro for now 'yung non-showbiz [ang manliligaw sa kanila], para mas normal ang buhay nila," she said.

"They are very open," Cruz added. "Iyon ang deal namin, e, noong naging single mom ako, na we have to be honest [to] each other. Whatever you feel, you have to let me know, so that I can explain things to you, and vice versa."
