MANILA - Cavite's Jeremiah Tiangco is a step closer to securing a semi-final spot in "Tawag ng Tanghalan" after defeating Iloilo's Trishia Sianson for his third win on Saturday's episode of the singing contest.

On "It's Showtime," the 18-year-old Tiangco, a college student and worship leader at their church, performed Gary Valenciano's "Take Me Out of the Dark," while Sianson sang Christine Aguilera's "The Voice Within."

Tiangco won another P25,000 and will return on Monday's episode of the singing contest in search for his fourth win. Five wins will mean an automatic place in the competition's semi-finals.

Since Tawag ng Tanghalan began early January, two have already moved on to the next round, namely Davao's Dominador Alviola, Jr. and Makati's Rachel Gabreza.
