Iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 (L-R: Park Bom, Sandara Park, CL, and Minzy) will release their final single on January 21. However, Minzy will not join the group. Reuters

More than a month since the announcement of their disbandment, iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 revealed that they will be releasing one final single as an apology to their fans.

"The members of 2NE1 were sad that they weren’t able to say their final goodbyes to fans after their sudden disbandment, so they've come together for one last song," read a statement from the group's label YG Entertainment, as reported by several Korean news outlets.

The song will be aptly titled "GOOD BYE," and will be released on January 21 with an accompanying music video. It will feature CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park, but will be without Minzy, who left the group back in April.

The announcement for the new single came more than a month after YG Entertainment confirmed 2NE1's split via an official release on the company's website. The agency said that it was "deeply saddened" to let the girl group go after seven years, but has decided that it will instead focus on the members' solo activities.

2NE1 surged in popularity with their 2009 debut single "Fire," and went on to break the record for the highest-charting K-pop album on the Billboard 200 with their final effort, 2014's Crush. The group last performed together at the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards.
