The song will be aptly titled "GOOD BYE," and will be released on January 21 with an accompanying music video. It will feature CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park, but will be without Minzy, who left the group back in April.

The announcement for the new single came more than a month after YG Entertainment confirmed 2NE1's split via an official release on the company's website. The agency said that it was "deeply saddened" to let the girl group go after seven years, but has decided that it will instead focus on the members' solo activities.

2NE1 surged in popularity with their 2009 debut single "Fire," and went on to break the record for the highest-charting K-pop album on the Billboard 200 with their final effort, 2014's Crush. The group last performed together at the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards.
