MANILA -- Benny, the character played by comedian Pepe Herrera on "Ang Probinsyano," fulfilled his final mission on Monday night.

Benny, who was made to lead an army of gunmen to Cardo's hideout, was loyal to his Cardo.

He was earlier captured and tortured by Joaquin's (Arjo Atayde) camp, just so he would betray Cardo, and lead them to where he was hiding.

But the moment he and the gunmen reached the hideout, Benny realized that he could not betray Cardo. Instead of staying silent to save himself, he warned Cardo and shielded him with his own body.

A former criminal, Benny was once saved by Cardo and treated him like a part of their family. He soon became Cardo's most trusted sidekick, playing major roles in the police officer's most dangerous undercover missions.

In his last breath, Benny proved that a sidekick will be forever loyal to his "chief."

Netizens, especially those who admire Benny, took to Twitter to express their sadness. Some also congratulated Herrera for playing the role well.
