TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol -- A 51-year-old man from this province was brought to the hospital after eating 90 seeds of the sweet cotton fruit, locally known as santol.

Bienvenido Fernandez, who was confined at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, said he swallowed the seeds instead of spitting them out after gnawing the fruit's flesh last Tuesday.

On Wednesday, however, he complained of stomach ache and difficulty in urination, and was brought to the hospital.

An ultrasound was conducted on his stomach and he was scheduled for an operation on Saturday if he was not able to flush out the seeds.
