MANILA -- Former ABS-CBN executive Lorenzo Tañada Jr. passed away on Christmas Eve. He was 87 years old.

According to his family, Tañada had diabetes and had to undergo dialysis.

He was survived by his wife, Zeny Ledesma, and their four children.

Tañada served as the president of ABS-CBN Foundation. He was also the ABS-CBN news director during the martial law period, and served as the ombudsman of ABS-CBN Corporation.

The family prefers donations to the Lorenzo M. Tañada Foundation, which gives scholarships to poor students in the Bicol region.
