MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday revealed that he recently fired Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) chief Anna Rosario Paner.

Duterte said he sacked Paner over the latter’s allegedly irregular hiring of consultants who earn as much as P200,000 monthly.

“I will stop graft and corruption and my God I’m going to do it. Marami na akong tinanggal. The latest one was Paner of the Sugar Regulatory Board,” Duterte said in a speech at the Manila Hotel.

“Bakit magkuha ka ng three [consultants sa] Sugar Regulatory Board? Tatlo, tapos ang bayad ng tao 200,000 a month? G*** ka ba?”

The President earlier said he will abolish the SRA and the Road Board for supposed irregularities in the hiring of consultants.

Paner, who served as chief executive of the Victorias Milling Co. Inc., was appointed by the President in October last year, replacing Regina Martin as SRA administrator.

In his speech, Duterte reminded his appointees that they do not owe anyone any favors.

“Let me remind everybody sa executive department. Wala kayong utang na loob na pagbabayaran kasi hindi kayo elected,” he said.

“Let me remind the secretaries, the directors, ‘wag ninyo gawin ‘yan, bigyan mo ang consultants ng P200,000 a month. Naloko ka ba? Magkano lang ang sweldo ko?”
