MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte will visit the Philippine Stock Exchange for the first time on Tuesday, joining a host of government leaders and celebrities who have graced the trading floor.

The President is scheduled to ring the closing bell at 3:30 p.m. to coincide with the listing anniversary of Mindanao-based Phoenix Petroleum.

Duterte’s predecessor, Benigno Aquino, visited the PSE thrice and in all instances, the main index closed lower. Former president Gloria Arroyo also visited the exchange during her term.

The main index was trading higher ahead of Duterte's visit, up 0.25 percent to 7,856.89.
