MANILA - Energy Development Corp. (EDC) president and chief operating officer Richard Tantoco said the Lopez group is ready to support President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's administration in the move towards cleaner energy.

EDC's target is to add 200 to 300 megawatts of green energy projects to its portfolio.

Tantoco, however, said to be able to roll out these projects, it is important to have clear and stable policy directives from the executive.

These include policies that price carbon and set quotas for different types of energy.

"Going out into next six years, we'd like to support incoming administration of President-elect Duterte by continuing the build out of our infrastructure, including solar power, wind power, and expansions in geothermal energy. There's a potential to ramp up investments over the next six years in support [of the Duterte administration's push for clean energy]," Tantoco said.

Tantoco is pushing for a 50 percent renewable energy share in the country's energy mix.

Duterte's choice for National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) chief, Ernesto Pernia earlier said, the incoming administration favors the move towards increasing the use of renewable energy in the country.
