MANILA - Condiments giant NutriAsia Inc on Tuesday denied claims that the labor department ordered the company to regularize picketing third-party employees.

NutriAsia said some employees of processing company B-Mirk Enterprise Inc put up a union and claimed in their filings with the Department of Labor and Employment that they are NutriAsia employees.

"There is also no truth to their claims that the DOLE has issued an order to make them regular NutriAsia employees," said the company that manufactures UFC catsup and Datu Puti soy sauce and vinegar.

NutriAsia said about 200 members of the groups Kadamay, Gabriela, Alyansang Makabayan, Worker Movement for Change and KMU gathered at its Marilao factory to support the picket that started on June 2.

The company said it sought the help of the police to prevent illegal work stoppage.

NutriAsia said it also sought court intervention to stop the picket.
