MANILA - The country's 30 million blue collar workers can now search for vacancies easier with a revamped website and counterpart app from recruitment portal Jobstreet.com, a company official said Thursday.

The skilled workers sector include construction workers, service crew and merchandisers who outnumber the estimated 10 million professionals, Jobstreet.com country manager Philip Gioca told reporters.

The platform, previously known as JOFOM, will be relaunched as JobEx in June with enhanced features, Gioca said. It will be available both on iOS and Android.

"The job market in the Philippines is really predominantly blue. The question is that how do we provide jobs for everyone," Gioca said.

Gioca said 9 in 10 Filipinos own a mobile phone and 6 in 9 use smart devices that are app-capable.

The app, which has had 100,000 downloads so far, matches jobseekers with potential employers. It is especially helpful for small companies that don't have the budget to set up a human resources arm.

Jofom can be downloaded for free on Google Playstore and Apple Store.

The app in its current form has about 6,000 blue collar job postings and about 15,000 active users nationwide.
