MANILA - Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco was honored by a Hong Kong-based finance publication for helping spur growth in the Philippine economy by keeping inflation under control.

Monetary Board Member Juan de Zuniga received the "outstanding achievement" award from FinanceAsia for Tetangco in ceremonies held in the Chinese territory last week, the BSP said in a statement.

Tetangco is scheduled to retire in July, after two consecutive six-year terms as central bank governor.
