MANILA - Universal Robina Corp. said Thursday it forged a joint venture with Hong Kong's Vitasoy to develop plant-based beverages.

URC, founded by billionaire John Gokongwei, has C2 bottled teas and Great Taste coffee in its drinks portfolio. Vitasoy manufactures soy milk, according to its website.

“We see a perfect fit in this joint venture, as both URC and Vitasoy are companies that strive to promote both consumer well-being and sustainable nutrition,” URC president Lance Gokongwei said in a disclosure to the stock exchange.
