MANILA - The Philippines could suffer from a “ripple effect,” should US President Donald Trump slap tariffs on products from China, its main market for electronics exports, an analyst said Friday.

At the same time, it would also make countries like Vietnam attractive as alternatives to China for manufacturing hubs, said Simon Cox, emerging markets editor for The Economist.

“We’re all left a little bit scratching our heads to see exactly what policies will materialize from all of this rather worrying rhetoric,” Cox told ANC’s “Market Edge with Cathy Yang.”
