MANILA - The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines is betting on the Visayas, where growth in the regional economy is expected to outpace the entire country.

Gross domestic product in the Visayas will likely grow 8 to 9 percent, faster than the 6 to 7 percent clip on the national level, BCCP chairman Chris Nelson told ANC's Market Edge with Cathy Yang.

The chamber will hold a trade mission in Iloilo City in March, Nelson said. The group staged a similar event in Davao City earlier.

"What we're doing here is spreading out and showing the over-all. The Visayas has great potential to grow even more than the over-all Philippine economy," he said.
