Leading provider of customer experience and business process solutions TELUS International Philippines recently received recognition from multiple award-giving bodies for its effort to provide a caring and innovative work culture.

TELUS International Philippines took home its first Gold Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines for its TELUS Days of Giving program – a project that aims to give back to the community through various volunteer activities including constructing homes, revamping schools, and educating the youth.

"TELUS International Philippines operates with a social purpose," Director for Brand, Marketing, and Culture Carlos Giammattei said.

"To be recognized for our efforts is a great honor for all our team members who unselfishly devote their time and energy to drive positive change in the communities where we live, work, and serve."

In 2017, TELUS International Philippines visited Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo to refurbish the school's facilities in support of the Department of Education's Brigada Eskwela program. The volunteers also reached out to the surrounding community by offering valuable lessons and insights on disaster preparedness, livelihood, and job interview skills.

The organization's caring culture and commitment to give back is not just limited to a one-day event. Of the 52 weekends in 2017, the company held CSR activities during 48 of them. All of these CSR activities were organized by team members themselves.

"The TELUS Days of Giving here in the Philippines is a great reflection of our CSR philosophy, 'We give where we live'. It's part of the organization's caring culture and our commitment to giving back to the Filipino community," Giammattei said.

The company is once again set to give back and share their culture of caring through the 2018 TELUS Days of Giving which will take place in two schools this May 12. More than 2,800 team members will be refurbishing Quezon City High School and Kamuning Elementary School to benefit almost 6,000 students.

TELUS International Philippines also received the Best Front-Line Team of the Year accolade during the annual International ICT Awards Philippines for the various achievements of its "Team Hybrid", including a perfect client satisfaction rating, low attrition rate, and promotion of diversity and inclusiveness.

"Company culture is no doubt among our top differentiators in the IT-BPO industry, and this is perfectly exemplified by Team Hybrid," said RS Nalakumar, TELUS International Philippines Vice-President for IT Solutions.

"This award is a testament of how our team members across the company embrace a caring work environment powered by teamwork, diversity, and inclusiveness," Nalakumar said.

To cultivate a more inclusive environment, TELUS International Philippines welcomed two differently-abled persons to the company and made sure that the team they would belong to learned basic hand language, deaf sensitivity and culture as well as Philippine and global laws on disabilities.

TELUS International Philippines has always had a strong focus on diversity and inclusiveness, and these values have been ingrained in the culture of its team members. Beyond its efforts to attract and welcome differently-abled team members, the company also has a number of special interest groups that promote inclusiveness and individual empowerment. TELUS International Philippines has a very active LGBTQA+ community called Spectrum, as well as a women leaders’ organization called, Connections Women’s Network.

“We are very proud of our team members who make our caring culture a reality, within and beyond our walls. Their support and active participation in these programs, whether they’re engaging in CSR activities or the company’s inclusiveness efforts, are what enabled us to win these industry recognitions,” Giammattei said.
