Three people were injured as typhoon Tisoy mauled the Samar provinces and nearby areas with heavy winds and rains, local officials said Tuesday.

In Santa Margarita town, 2 residents were injured by storm debris while another was pinned by a wall toppled by Tisoy. All 3 are in safe condition, said the local disaster office.

Landslides and floods also hit Motiong and Jiabong towns in Samar, and Lapinig and Mapanas in Northern Samar.

Some 200 families, meanwhile, were evacuated away from the coastal areas of Calbayog town, which was littered with branches and roof sheets ripped of by the typhoon.

Tisoy on Monday night made landfall in Sorsogon, the southernmost province of Luzon island.

Frequent to continuous heavy to intense rains will lash Bicol Region, Romblon, Marinduque, Mindoro provinces, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan until late afternoon, said the state weather bureau.
