Stranded individuals who want to leave Metro Manila should coordinate with the police as the region prepared to further ease its coronavirus lockdown, a police official said Friday.

Those who want to cross the boundary between cities or move to the province should first get a health clearance certificate then go to the police station in their area to get a free travel authority that will let them cross checkpoints, said police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, head of the Joint Task Force COVID-19.

"Ito po'y hindi naman right o karapatan kundi ito po ay privilege. Susunod po kayo sa proseso at kung mayroon mang period of waiting, talagang kailangan po iyan dahil mayroon po tayong coordination," he told DZMM.

(This is not a right but rather, a privilege. You will follow the process and if there's a period of waiting, that's necessary because we should have coordination.)

Vehicles can carry up to 4 people, provided that physical distancing measures are observed, he said.

Workers of permitted industries only need to present their IDs to pass checkpoints, said Eleazar.

Those who are availing essential goods and services will not be allowed to cross cities.
