A transport group on Wednesday urged regulators to designate loading and unloading zones for commuter vans after their operation was limited to a point-to-point basis.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board earlier this month prohibited UV Express units from picking up and unloading passengers anywhere outside of their terminals to cut their travel time.

Under the order, passengers may have to transfer to buses or jeeps, or walk to their destination if it is somewhere between the terminals, said Stop and Go transport coalition president Jun Magno.

"Para bang nauuso talaga ngayon pahirapan ang mga pasahero," he told radio DZMM.

(It seems that making passengers suffer is becoming a trend.)

"Kung napagbigyan natin iyung mga P2P premium [buses] na may mga selected na loading and unloading [points], bakit hindi natin gawin sa UV?" he added.

(If we were able to allow P2P premium buses to have selected loading and unloading points, why not do so for UV units, too?)

Stop and Go will submit a position paper against the policy and seek a dialogue with LTFRB, he said.
