A man who introduced himself as "Bikoy", a hooded figure who linked President Rodrigo Duterte's family to the narcotics trade in several viral videos, needs to undergo vetting before he could get free legal aid, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines said Tuesday.

In a press conference at the IBP, a certain Peter Joemel Advincula on Monday introduced himself as Bikoy, who claimed drug money was funneled into the bank accounts of Duterte's son former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, his son-in-law Atty. Manases Carpio, and former aide Christopher Go.

"Ivi-vet out muna s'ya... Mayroon naman tayong proseso ng pagve-vet out bago natin tanggapin ang sinumang lumapit for free legal aid," said incoming IBP president Domingo Cayosa.

(He will be vetted. We have a process for vetting before we accept anyone seeking free legal aid.)

The IBP gives free legal aid to those who cannot afford private lawyers and whose allegations have basis, he said.

"Hindi naman automatic na 'pag tumakbo ka sa IBP, mapapaloob ka sa programa ng free legal aid," Cayosa told radio DZMM.

(It's not automatic that if you run to the IBP, you'd be placed under the program for free legal aid.)
