There is such a thing as good dynasties, according to reelectionist Sen. Cynthia Villar, saying her family is one of them.

"It's the perception of people, especially in Manila. We cant be a bad dynasty in Metro Manila. They're (people) so intelligent. They will not allow you to be there if you're not good," Villar told ANC's Headstart.

Nonetheless, Villar said she is willing to comply should an anti-dynasty law be passed.

Villar's family is involved in both politics and business. Cynthia's daughter, Camille, is seeking a congressional seat as representative of Las Piñas while son, Mark, is currently secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Villar's in-law Imelda Aguilar is gunning for another term as Las Piñas mayor alongside her daughter, April.

Villar's family - particularly that of her husband former Sen. Manny - has also ventured in businesses particularly on real estate, and have been accused of conflict of interest.

Despite this, Villar insists her family is "very careful" with the businesses they venture in.

"My family has been very careful about 'conflict of interest' in our business," she said.

She added that honesty is "important to me as a person."
