DIGOS - Former governor Douglas Cagas voluntarily surrendered to police Monday after being linked to the murder of mediaman Nestor Bedolido in Digos City in 2010.

Cagas went to the provincial police office Monday morning after Executive Judge Carmelita Davin of Regional Trial Court Branch 19 of Digos City issued a warrant for his arrest.

The warrant also orders the arrest of Matanao, Davao del Sur Mayor Vicente Fernandez who is also being linked to the Bedolido killing.

Cagas said he surrendered to the police to prove his innocence. Police took his mug shots and then brought him to Digos City district jail.

"I have voluntarily surrendered to the provincial command of the province of Davao del Sur because I am innocent. I have not committed any crime. I have not asked anybody to commit a crime for me," he said in a statement.

Authorities are also looking for two suspects being linked to the crime.
