Kyle "Kulas" Jennermann, known for his vlogs that promote Philippine culture, finally got to exercise his vote as a naturalized Filipino citizen.

On his social media pages, the content creator shared his experience as a first-time voter in the country.

He said he was "really impressed" when he visited the polling station he visited in Taguig, citing not just the "vibe" but also the efficient systems in place.

Listing the things that "made me happy," he said: "Big polling room signs were at the entrance. Easy to spot and find where to go. My name with picture was posted on the door to the voting area--literally no one could vote as me. You not only have to find your image and name, but give your fingerprint. The fact that you have to register in advance with Comelec, and then they have this. Very professional and safe."

"The staff quickly approached people and gave us a number as we arrived at our voting room. Made it easy to understand where to fall in line," he added. "Only took about 45 minutes to vote, even with many people around. Wonderful you can see the receipt and double check your votes."

Jennermann went on to compare being a voter in the Philippines as a former Canadian, acknowledging that there is still room for improvement.

For one, he said he found the classroom setting for voting "a bit harder to be secretive with your ballot."

"There isn't a 'hidden cubicle' structure. It would make a bit easier for someone to possibly see who you are voting for. And with a long sheet for voting, I found it would be difficult to actually hide all my selections because I didn't want to fold or crinkle the voter's sheet," he pointed out.

The content creator went on: "I found it a bit strange/sad that people on public roads outside the precinct were offering me cards with sort of 'sample ballots.' I believe this was to possibly motivate me or influence me to vote for specific lineups. Or I guess remind people who didn't write down their list?"

But in the end, Jennermann said he was happy with his experience.

"I was really impressed. Confident in everything to do with my votes being counted. Great vibe and helpful staff," he said, reminding Filipinos to go out and vote.

Jennermann is the man behind the "Becoming Filipino" YouTube channel, where he has been showcasing different parts of the Philippines since setting foot in the country in 2013.

In 2019, he was tapped by the Tourism Promotions Board to help promote the Philippines.

He was granted Philippine citizenship in 2023.
