The British trade envoy for the Philippines, Richard Graham, is a master linguist who has learned how to speak over half a dozen languages, including Tagalog.

He learned it first when he was posted in Manila back in 1984 to 1986, when he worked for Cathay Pacific as airline manager.

Thirty years hence, he is back, but as his home country's trade envoy to the Philippines.

Today, brushing up on his Tagalog is high up on his to-do list, one more takeaway from the same culture that taught him a crucial attitude for surviving challenges. -- ANC Market Edge, August 26, 2016
