Chuchi Fonacier was named deputy governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' supervision and examination sector in 2017, a post previously held by the late Central Bank Governor Nestor Espenilla.

She has given financial institutions until March 31 to get all their personnel on board to facilitate fund transfer services through its PESOnet and InstaPay. The aim is to raise the share of e-payments to 20 percent of total transactions by 2020, and the numbers are encouraging thus far.
