MANILA -- The Alas Pilipinas Men absorbed another straight sets loss against the visiting Osaka Bluteon, 25-17, 25-10, 25-21, on Sunday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

It was another gallant stand for the Alas Men in the second of a pair of friendlies that marked the start of the countdown to next year's FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships that will be hosted by the Philippines.

Olympian Yuji Nishida, a fan favorite among the locals, led the way for Osaka with 12 points on seven kills, four aces, and a block.

But Alas skipper Kim Malabunga was proud of their effort and noted that they will take away plenty of lessons from their two games against the visiting Japanese squad.

"The speed in blocking, quickness in other areas. These are just a few of the things we need to focus on," said Malabunga. "Individually and as a team, we have to improve in preparation for the world championships."

"It's very good experience. It was very, very difficult but for us, it was a very good experience," Alas Pilipinas coach Angiolino Frigoni said.

Buds Buddin and Jade Disquitado combined for 15 points for Alas Pilipinas, all on kills.
