MANILA — San Sebastian College-Recoletos remained perfect in NCAA Season 100 after completing a late comeback against Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU).

Paeng Are sizzled yet again for the Golden Stags as they completed a 10-point comeback in the fourth to etch a 95-93 win against the Pirates on Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Center during their men’s basketball clash there.

Are, who zapped Colegio de San Juan de Letran with 30 points in their opening game, dominated LPU with 25 markers, 13 assists, eight dimes in, and two steals in 36 minutes of action.

Helping the sizzling 2-0 Golden Stags was Raymart Escobido's 23 points, while Tristan Felebrico finished with a 14-point, 15-rebound game.

Down 93-83 with 1:23 left in the fourth, Are playmaked for his teammates and delivered two crucial assists that got them to within four, 93-89, following baskets by Lauren Gabat and Felebrico.

A completed and-one by Gabat off a fastbreak then allowed SSC-R to overtake the Pirates, while Escobido going 1-of-2 from the line with still seven seconds remaining pushed their lead to two.

Unfortunately for LPU, adding to their woes was the exit of JM Bravo who needed to be carried out of the game with a stretcher. This came after his bad fall while contesting the shot of Gabat at the 12-second mark.

Meanwhile, completing the 12-to-nothing run by the Golden Stags was Escobido’s split from the foul line.

Mac Guadana had the last chance to win the game with three ticks left, but his shot went short, and this resulted in the Intramuros-based team falling to 0-2.

John Barba top-scored for Lyceum with 25 points, while Bravo and Guadana had 13 and 12, respectively.

The scores:

San Sebastian 95 – Are 25, Escobido 23, Felebrico 14, Velasco 12, R. Gabat 6, L. Gabat 6, Aguilar 3, Suico 2, Ricio 2, Lintol 2, Pascual 0, Barroga 0, Maliwat 0.

Lyceum 93 – Barba 25, Bravo 13, Guadana 12, Moralejo 10, Cunanan 8, Montano 7, Daileg 6, Villegas 6, Panelo 5, Gordon 1, Penafiel 0, Aviles 0, Paulo 0.

Quarterscores: 30-30; 50-50; 74-68; 95-93.
