Questions popped up from fans as Aying was initially drafted by Galeries at the 23rd pick of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) draft, but she eventually ended up being Jerry Yee's cog.

League commissioner Sherwin Malonzo cleared the air regarding the movement and revealed that Aying came from free agency.

The 5-foot-6 spiker wasn't able to secure a contract with the Highrisers within the league's 15-day signing window, which made her a free agent.

Technically, Galeries waived the rights for Aying.

"Do'n sa draft rules natin, each team is given 15 days to give an offer and a contract. So after 15 days, hindi sila nakapag-offer so nag-lapse na, kaya a few days later kinonfirm namin sa lahat ng rookies kung sinong hindi naka-sign, apparently, it was only Aying," Malonzo said.

Per league rules, unsigned draftees will undergo a "special draft."

And since the University of San Jose-Recoletos product was the lone rookie who wasn't able to sign with a club, Malonzo said they just informed and called the teams except for Galeries.

ZUS Coffee, which continues to struggle this Reinforced Conference, immediately picked up Aying.

They remain winless at 0-4 in Pool B.

"Since isa lang siya, instead of organizing a closed door meeting with the teams, tinawagan na lang namin isa-isa. Sa unang tawag pa lang, nag-go na si ZUS. we just informed the other teams that ZUS Coffee acquired Ms. Aying."

Malonzo added that Aying is already eligible to play for the Thunderbelles.

"Yes, pwede na. Ang rules naman natin pwede magdagdag ng player ang isang team kung first, dapat less than 20 pa and second either rookie or national player na discharged."
