MANILA – The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines wants to achieve further success in the sport by tapping Fil-British gymnast Jake Jarman ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

GAP chief Cynthia Carrion said on Wednesday at the sidelines of the Olympians' homecoming parade in Manila that they will reach out to Jarman and his family as they seek to bank on the triumph of double gold medalist Carlos Yulo at the Paris Games.

Carrion said the parents and Jarman himself had to agree first before they could continue to process his eligibility to don the national tri-colors.

Jarman traces Filipino roots via his Cebuana mother. He also lived in the country when he was still a kid.

"I have to talk first to his mother that she agrees, and to Jake himself that he agrees. Because the officials of Jake Jarman told me that unless the father and the mother and Jake Jarman do not agree, wala. They have to agree also," she told select reporters.

In a separate interview, Carrion said she was in contact with her British counterpart and revealed that they want to keep the Olympic bronze medalist.

Great Britain will release Jarman to the Philippines in one condition — only if he and his family wants it.

"I talked to top British officials. They said, 'we will not release him because we spent a lot for him. We cannot release him. But I can release him if he wants and if the mother wants. If they insist on it, then we can release him,'" she said.

Carrion also bared an open-ended conversation with Jarman, and said that she's inviting Jarman to visit the country again.

"Then when I saw him the last time, I said Jake, (his response was) 'I cannot promise,'" the Gymnastics president bared. "I'm inviting him here to see how wonderful we are. Maybe he would like to be here better."

Jarman was the third-place finisher when Yulo nabbed the gold in men's floor exercise at the Paris Games.
