MANILA — Geo Chiu is headed to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Japan B.League squad Ehime Orange Vikings announced that they have tapped the services of the 6-foot-10, former Ateneo de Manila University big man for the 2024-25 season.

Chiu, who averaged 1.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament, opted to forgo his final year with the Blue Eagles when he played for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament.

He went on to suit up for the Mustangs in a friendly game against Gilas Pilipinas last June 24, but now that he is set to continue with his professional career overseas, Chiu is now seen among the players who will help the Orange Vikings recover from the B2 squad’s 23-37 campaign in the 2023-24 season.

"Hello everyone, I am Geo Chiu and I am truly grateful and honored to play for the Ehime Orange Vikings," he said in a statement.

"I am so excited for what’s to come and I cannot wait to see you all soon! Go Vikes!"

But before he flies to Japan, he will first be representing the country in the 43rd William Jones Cup later this month when he plays for Strong Group Athletics-Philippines.
