MANILA – The PBA on Wednesday announced some changes in the league that will take effect in its upcoming 49th Season.

Commissioner Willie Marcial announced before Game 1 of the Philippine Cup Finals that the height limit for imports will be removed for the next tourney's Commissioner's Cup.

"Pumayag na rin ang board sa pino-propose ko na unlimited height ang Commissioner's Cup sa second conference," he said.

Previously, only foreign players up to 6-foot-9 could join the import-laced basketball tilt.

The Governor's Cup will take place first in the league's 49th season, Commissioner's Cup will be next and lastly, it will be Philippine Cupjust in time for PBA's anniversary.

"Ginawa din talaga namin 'yon para 'yung All-Filipino, matapat sa anniversary natin," he explained.

Marcial also revealed that there are talks for a possible guest team in the league in the second conference.

"May kausap na rin ako, kami, baka may guest team tayo sa second conference. Tingnan natin. Nag-uusap pa, wala pang... ang pinag-uusapan namin schedules, logistics, players so wala pang kongkreto na usapan pero tinitingnan natin kung magkakaroon tayo ng guest team," Marcial told reporters.

Allowing two imports is also a possibility, said the league chief.

"May proposal din na baka mag-two imports. Baka lang. Kasi depende 'pag sumali nga 'yung guest team, baka mag-two imports tayo."

PBA will also join the East Asia Super League (EASL) again, said Marcial.
