MANILA -- Four new coaches will try to guide their programs to winning starts when they see action in the 17th Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.

Among the coaches who will make their debut in the preseason tournament are: Sean Chambers (Far Eastern University), Allen Ricardo (Letran), Arvin Bonleon (San Sebastian), and Olsen Racela (Perpetual Help).

Chambers, a decorated former PBA import who won six championships with Alaska, has been tasked to revive the Tamaraws' winning tradition behind holdover Jorick Bautista and rookies Veejay Pre and Janrey Pasaol.

"The mission for us is to re-ignite the winning culture in FEU," said Chambers, who replaced Denok Miranda.

Ricardo, for his part, will look to duplicate the success he had with the Squires in the Letran senior program. Already, he has secured the commitment of high school stars Titing Manalili and Jovel Baliling for the Knights.

Racela is rebuilding the Altas, with former head coach Myk Saguiguit sliding to an assistant role.

"May mga umalis, pero may mga nag-stay pa rin. Mahirap yung trabaho, but we just got to work one game at a time," said Racela, who is looking at rookie Mark Gojo Cruz to reinforce the Altas' mainstays led by Cedrick Abis, JP Boral, and Christian Pagaran.

San Sebastian is hoping that Bonleon will be up to the task after one year under John Kallos.

The former Golden Stag is motivated to bring his alma mater back to title contention with Rafael Are, James Una, and Raymark Escobido leading the front.

"Galing ako dito, so gusto ko makapag-contend din yung team ngayon tulad nang dati," said Bonleon.
