MANILA — National University's Bella Belen is the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The Lady Bulldogs star, who averaged 14.64 points per game during the elimination round, garnered 296 statistical points (SPs), besting University of Santo Tomas' Angge Poyos, teammate Vangge Alinsug, and University of the East's Casiey Dongallo.

En route to winning her second league MVP, Belen placed 7th in scoring (205 points), 6th in spiking (36.53% efficiency, 179 attacks), 8th in serving (0.22 aces per set, 11 aces), 6th in digging (3.20 digs per set, 160 excellent digs), and 2nd in receiving (48.30% efficiency 131 excellent receptions).

This is Belen's second MVP award, having earned the top individual honor as a rookie in Season 84.

But she downplayed the latest achievement in her decorated volleyball career.

"Most beautiful? Charot! Yung awards po kasi, talagang before pa lang, sinasabi namin na bonus yun sa pag-tatrabaho ng isang player," said the third-year player.

"Kapag nag-trabaho ka, yung awards, susunod na lang. I'm very thankful, and hindi ko siya magagawa kung wala naman yung teammates ko. It's a team effort talaga, kung sa championship man or sa individual awards," she added.

Meanwhile, Poyos was hailed as the Season 86 women's volleyball Rookie of the Year.

Poyos, who placed 2nd in scoring (290 pts 20.71 ppg), 3rd in spiking (40.79% efficiency, 249 attacks), and 1st in serving (0.41 aces per set 23 aces), won the award over Dongallo after earning 294 SPS, and this allowed her to become the sixth Golden Tigress to earn the league's top rookie honors. 

Belen and Poyos are also the Season 86 First and Second Best Outside Hitters, respectively.

On the other hand, UST stars Cassie Carballo and Detdet Pepito were also hailed for their performances this year.

Carballo was named the Best Setter after she averaged 4.55 per set, while Pepito was the Best Libero after she normed 4.2 digs per set and 55.5% efficiency in receiving. 

Another Lady Bulldog received an award for her play as Alyssa Solomon was awarded as the Best Opposite Hitter. Solomon, who bested De La Salle University's Shevana Laput and UST's Reg Jurado, led the league in spiking (41.61% efficiency) and was sixth in scoring (207 points).

Finally, La Salle's Thea Gagate and the University of the Philippines' Nina Ytang were named as the First and Second Middle Blockers, respectively.

Gagate averaged 0.77 blocks per set during the elimination round, while Ytang followed her with 0.67 per set.
