MANILA (UPDATED) - Minana EVOS on Friday secured its first playoffs berth in 4 seasons after sweeping powerhouse Onic Philippines in their MPL Philippines Season 13 encounter, Friday. 

Minana, with all-time veteran Jeniel "Yellyhaze" Bata-anon on board, collected two quick wins against the newly-revamped Onic squad to lock in the 5th playoffs spot in the league.

The MPL Hall of Legends inductee marked his return in style, collecting 8 assists and 2 kills on Vexana as Minana EVOS topped the Hedgehogs in Game 1. It was a checkmate of sorts by Minana, foiling Duane "Kelra" Pillas' Phoveus cheese strat.

While kills were even between both squads in Game 2, Minana EVOS had the better control of the map, securing all turrets, all turtles, and a couple of Lords. 

Blacklist International, TNC Pro Team, and Smart Omega will joust for the last playoffs spot. 

This is the first time Minana EVOS secures a playoff spot under the Minana banner, as the franchise last entered the playoff picture when it was still Nexplay EVOS, in MPL Philippines Season 9. 

Onic slid down to third in the standings after ECHO denied TNC Pro Team a reverse sweep, 2-1, in a later encounter. 

TNC Pro Team is currently 1-10 in the standings, while Smart Omega, with a nearly identical record, slides down to last place. 

TNC will face playoff team RSG Philippines next this Sunday, while ECHO will face Minana tomorrow as they attempt to get an early twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs.
