(UPDATED) The Philippines' Carlos Yulo showed strength of mind and body as he struck gold in the parallel bars and silver in the vault at the Doha, Qatar leg of the 2024 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series on Saturday (Manila time).

It was a shaky start to Yulo's FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup bid after a 21st-place finish at his favorite floor exercise event, causing him to miss the finals in said apparatus.

However, Yulo bounced back during the vault and parallel bars finals.

In the vault, Yulo bagged a silver medal, scoring 15.066, 0.1 points behind first-placer Davtyan Artur of Armenia who earned 15.166 points.

The Filipino gymnast had a stronger showing during the parallel bars event, effectively bagging the gold.

His flawless routine earned him 15.200 points, with second-placer Yuan-Hsi Hung from Taipei gaining 14.966 points, then third-placer Brazilian Caio Souza with 14.566 points.

Shortly before Yulo's victory, Filipino American gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar won a silver medal at the same competition that qualified her for the Paris Olympics.

After this World Cup, the Filipino gymnasts will have their eyes set on preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Last March, Yulo took a bronze in the Baku, Azerbaijan leg of the FIG World Cup series.
