MANILA -- Filipina weightlifter Rosegie Ramos fell to No. 11 in the Olympic qualifying rankings for the women's 49kg division, but she remains in contention for a berth in the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

Ramos lifted a combined 190kg in the snatch and clean-and-jerk in Group B of her weight class during the IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand on Monday afternoon.

However, her total was surpassed by two other athletes in Group A. Echandia Zarate of Venezuela lifted a total of 193kg while Fang Wan Ling of Chinese Taipei lifted 192 kilograms in total.

Beatriz Piron from Dominican Republic, a three-time Olympian, tied Ramos' personal best of 191kg, but is ranked at No. 10 ahead of the Filipina because she accomplished the feat earlier, in June 2023 in Cuba.

Ramos lifted a personal best of 191kg in December 2023 in Doha.

But Ramos may still qualify if any of the lifters in the Top 10 pull out of the Olympics for any reason. Moreover, Nina Sterckx from Belgium -- who is currently ranked seventh -- may yet choose to compete in the 59kg weight class where she is also ranked.

The final list of Paris-bound lifters will be released by the International Weightlifting Federation in May.

On Wednesday, Filipina lifters Hidilyn Diaz and Elreen Ando will see action in the 59kg division.

Diaz, a gold medalist in Tokyo, is in the eighth spot in the Olympic rankings via her best record of 224 kilograms lifted in total. Ando is in tenth place with a best total life of 222kgs.

Both athletes are looking to maintain their place in the Top 10 of their weight division. However, only one athlete per country can make it in each weight class.
