MANILA – The PBA fined Magnolia forward Calvin Abueva P100,000 for mocking the physical disability of San Miguel head coach Jorge Gallent in Game 2 of the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals.

The league announced the development Tuesday ahead of Game 3 the next day at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

PBA said its league rules state that "any person who offends the dignity of any person on account of 'physical disability' shall be subject to a fine not lower than P 100,000," hence the penalty.

Gallent has accepted Abueva's apology, PBA said, after reaching out to the San Miguel mentor later that night after the incident.

No suspensions were handed to the 6-foot-2 forward, who has served a hefty suspension before which lasted for about 16 months for unfortunate confrontations involving TNT import Terrence Jones and the then-girlfriend of Bobby Ray Parks Jr.

Meanwhile, Abueva and the wife of SMB forward Mo Tautuaa have patched things up, said Commissioner Willie Marcial.

As tensions rose after the match, the two engaged in a verbal spat beyond the court.

Due to the altercation, they were summoned by the commissioner earlier Tuesday, PBA said.

Marcial said Abueva and Tautuaa's wife settled the issue after talking things over.

"Abueva apologized to the PBA and to Tautuaa and his wife. Nagkausap at nagkaayos na sila," the league commissioner said.

They were also given warning that "repetition of such incidents will be dealt with a heavier penalty."
