MANILA, Philippines – Spiker Faith Nisperos said Saturday that her stint with Alas Pilipinas boosted her confidence as a player.

And on her first game back in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), Nisperos immediately made her presence felt, listing 16 attack points on 28 attempts to help Akari secure a four-set 28-30, 25-15, 25-16, 25-23 victory over Galeries in the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference at PhilSports Arena.

"It all boils down the confidence na na-gain ko since the Alas stint," the former Ateneo hitter told reporters. "The skills everyday nate-train ‘yan, but ‘yung pinaka-na-carry over ko from my Alas stint is the confidence."

Nisperos hopes that the confidence she built would translate into contributions for the team.

"So, as long as nandun ‘yung confidence ko sa sarili ko and trust ko sa teammates ko, I guess I could contribute to the team," said Nisperos.

Nisperos was sidelined in the 2024 Reinforced Conference due to her Alas Pilipinas duties.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Charger said she is still adapting within Coach Taka Minowa's system, trying to improve her connection with her setters.

"Everything is a process talaga and I think I’m still at the point of trying to adapt, trying to gel more into the system, especially sa setters kasi siyempre sila talaga ‘yung ka-relationship ko pag dating sa paglalaro," she said.

"It’s a process, it’s a long conference so I’m gonna take that opportunity, more than trying to win but like trying to improve each game."

Nisperos and company look to build on their strong start as they face ZUS Coffee on Thursday.
