Handout/ONE Championship MANILA -- Filipino-American fighter Jackie Buntan made history on Saturday as she annexed the inaugural ONE Women's Strawweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 169.

Buntan pulled off a unanimous decision victory against Anissa "C18" Meksen at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand to finally grab the gold in ONE Championship.

She had been considered the underdog against Meksen, long considered one of the top pound-for-pound female strikers in the world.

Meksen lived up to her billing early, controlling the first two rounds with her leg kicks and jabs. But a combination by Buntan towards the end of the second round shifted the momentum in her favor, and she took control of the third frame through body shots and hooks.

Though Meksen was able to regain her composure in Round 4, Buntan showed no signs of slowing down and continued to pour it on, landing the cleaner shots against the French-Algerian fighter.

All three judges saw the bout in Buntan's favor. The Fil-Am fighter now has a 27-6 win-loss record.

However, another Filipino fighter fell short at ONE 169.

Handout/ONE ChampionshipDanny "The King" Kingad again came out on the losing end against Adriano Moraes, tapping out via a guillotine choke at the 4:14 mark of the second round.

It was a repeat of their 2017 showdown, wherein Moraes needed less than a round to take care of business against the Filipino.

The result likely solidified the Brazilian veteran's status as the top contender for the ONE Flyweight MMA title, left vacant by Demetrious Johnson's retirement.

At ONE Friday Fights, Filipinos held court.
