Filipino rider Mario Borbon Jr. capped a successful year for Team Suzuki Pilipinas by winning the 10th and final race of the Suzuki Asian Challenge season recently.

The Cebu native bested Rizal Feriyadi of Indonesia and Shinnosuke Sato of Japan in a heated battle to the finish line at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.

It was Borbon’s second podium finish this season.

The three-man team, which includes Filipino riders EJ Sobretodo and April King Mascardo, have shown great improvement since 2015 with at least one of them fighting for the win in every race this season.

Mascardo finished fifth in the overall standings, followed by Sobretodo at sixth and Borbon at seventh.

Indonesia's Jefri Tosema topped the standings, followed by fellow Indonesian Muhammad Sapril and Malaysia's Rozaliman Zakaria.

The races took place in Johor Circuit, Malaysia; Chang International Circuit, Thailand; Suzuka International Circuit, Japan; and Sentul Indonesia Circuit, Indonesia.
