Frankie Lim, former San Beda coach, returns to the NCAA for Perpetual Help. PBA Media Bureau

Perpetual Help tabbed multi-titled basketball coach Frankie Lim as its new consultant to rejuvenate its campaign in time for the 93rd NCAA season next year.

“I’ve been appointed as a team consultant last month to help the team and also in recruitment,” said Lim.

The decision came days after the NCAA Policy Board reportedly lifted Lim’s ban for figuring in a fight with San Sebastian volleyball mentor Roger Gorayeb five years back.

While Gorayeb has already served out his suspension, Lim’s was never lifted.

On Wednesday following an aggressive appeal by Perpetual Help through new Management Committee representative Frank Gusi, the NCAA reportedly decided to lift the suspension and allow Lim to accept any position related to the NCAA.

Lim is expected to bring in his championship experience having won four titles as a coach and as part of the San Beda squad as a player that won it all in 1978.

With Lim, the Altas are expected to make a run for their first ever seniors basketball title.

“It’s a good feeling to be back in the NCAA and I hope to help Perpetual Help in a big way,” said Lim, who also coached in Brgy. Ginebra for a couple of conferences.

Lim also quelled talks that he will take over as coach and replace Nosa Omorogbe and Jimwell Gican.

“I’m just here as a consultant that was what chairman (Antonio Tamayo) and I have agreed upon,” said Lim.
